Vanderbilt (5-4, 3-3 SEC) took another step towards bowl eligibility Saturday with a 40-0 win over Kentucky (1-9, 0-7). The Commodores recorded their first shutout in SEC play since 1968, while the offense scored four touchdowns in the first half to put the game out of reach early.
Jordan Rodgers threw for 220 yards and two touchdowns, while the Vanderbilt running back trio of Zac Stacy, Wesley Tate and Brian Kimbrow contributed a touchdown each. Kicker Carey Spear added two field goals in the fourth quarter to complete the Commodore scoring.
The Commodores will next face Ole Miss in Oxford, Miss. at 6 p.m. as each team attempts to secure its sixth victory of the season and bowl eligibility.
