The Great American Smokeout will be handing out free “quit kits” around campus in order to help students, faculty and staff give up smoking on Thursday, Nov. 21.
"This event...is inspired by the American Cancer Society’s initiative by the same name" said Katherine S. Drotos Cuthbert, one of the event's coordinators.
Kits will be distributed in various locations throughout the day: the Wall at Rand from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Commons Center from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the Recreation Center from 4 - 6 p.m.
The quit kits contain materials aimed at reducing dependence on tobacco and marijuana such as honey sticks, organic lollipops, stress balls, wristbands, self-tests, and general information.
Anyone interested in quitting smoking, or helping a friend quit smoking, is strongly encouraged by The Office of Wellness Programs and Alcohol Education to pick up a kit for free.
